Repurposing Performance Metrics
3 min read
Three metrics define repurposing performance. Content multiplier: how many derivative pieces does each source article produce? The target is 8-12x. Below 5x, the repurposing pipeline is underperforming. Above 15x, quality may be suffering. Derivative performance ratio: how does the aggregate engagement of all derivatives compare to the source article? If the derivatives collectively outperform the source by 3x or more, the repurposing is creating more value than the original publication. Cost per content piece: what is the total production cost divided by the total number of pieces produced (source plus derivatives)? The repurposing pipeline should reduce cost per piece by 60-70% compared to creating each piece individually.
