Format-Level Optimization
3 min read
Not all formats perform equally. LinkedIn posts might produce 60% of the derivative engagement. Twitter threads might produce 5%. Email snippets might produce 25% of the pipeline attribution. The data reveals which formats deserve more investment and which should be deprioritized. Monthly format performance review: rank each derivative format by engagement, pipeline contribution, and production cost. The top three formats get more creative investment — better hooks, richer content, more editorial attention. The bottom two formats are either improved or dropped. The pipeline is finite. Allocate it to the formats that produce results.
Do This
- Rank derivative formats monthly by engagement, pipeline contribution, and cost
- Invest more editorial effort in the top-performing formats
- Drop or redesign formats that consistently underperform — not every platform deserves your content
Avoid This
- Repurpose into every format equally regardless of performance
- Continue producing derivatives for a platform that has never generated measurable results
- Optimize for engagement without connecting to pipeline — engagement without pipeline is vanity
