Algorithm Change Monitoring
3 min read
Platform algorithms change quarterly. Sometimes they announce it. Usually they do not. The signal: your content performance shifts without any change in content quality or cadence. Reach drops 30% across all posts in a week — that is an algorithm change, not a content problem. The response: analyze which format types were affected, which were not, and adjust the content mix accordingly. The monitoring system: track baseline performance metrics (reach, engagement rate, click-through) weekly. Any deviation of more than 20% from the four-week average triggers an investigation. The investigation identifies whether the change is algorithm-driven (affects all content uniformly) or content-driven (affects specific posts). The response is different for each.
