Risk Communication for Boards

3 min read

Boards evaluate competitive intelligence through a risk lens. The format that works: Risk Description (one sentence), Probability Assessment (with confidence level), Impact Estimate (quantified to enterprise metrics), Current Mitigation (what is already being done), Recommended Action (specific, time-bound, resource-estimated), Residual Risk (what remains after mitigation). This six-element risk communication format maps directly to how board members process and discuss strategic threats. It enables the board to evaluate, prioritize, and approve responses without requiring additional analysis.
