Post-Launch: The First 30 Days, What to Watch, When to Escalate

The go-live decision is not the end of the deployment readiness process. It is the beginning of the production validation period. The first thirty days of production operation are when the assumptions embedded in the deployment readiness review meet actual user behavior, actual data quality, and actual edge cases that no amount of staging testing fully replicates. The monitoring frameworks, behavioral baselines, and incident response playbooks established in the deployment readiness review are now operational. This is when you find out if they work.
Thirty-day post-launch protocol is structured across three parallel tracks: technical monitoring (DRILL and ATLAS), legal compliance monitoring (CLAUSE), and behavioral adoption monitoring (PRISM). Each track has defined weekly check-ins, defined escalation triggers, and a defined reporting cadence. The first thirty days do not operate on an ad hoc basis. They operate on the protocol that was documented before go-live.
- Week 1: Stabilization Technical track: monitor all infrastructure metrics against staging baselines — latency, error rate, token consumption, tool call frequency. Any metric outside the two standard deviation threshold triggers immediate investigation. Report daily to the deployment lead. Behavioral track: monitor adoption rate and escalation rate in the early adopter cohort. PRISM reviews first-week behavioral data for archetype emergence signals. Legal track: CLAUSE verifies that the data processing agreements are operating as specified — particularly sub-processor notifications and breach detection thresholds. If any track generates a red alert in week one, the deployment lead has authority to throttle usage without convening the full go/no-go committee.
- Week 2-3: Stabilization Validation Technical track: compare week two metrics to week one. A system under load should show stable or improving metrics, not degrading ones. Escalating error rates or latency in week two indicate a scaling issue that was not visible at initial load. Behavioral track: PRISM reviews the output acceptance rate and escalation rate trends. Declining acceptance rates indicate quality concerns that require prompt investigation. Rising escalation rates indicate either workflow design issues or Skeptic-Avoider archetype concentration. Legal track: if any data subject rights requests have been received, verify the response process is operating within the required timelines.
- Week 4: 30-Day Review The 30-day review is a formal meeting of all four domain leads with the deployment authority. Each domain presents: current status against the success metrics defined pre-launch, any incidents or near-misses from the first thirty days with resolution documentation, any yellow items from the go/no-go decision and their current remediation status, and the recommendation for continued operation, operational adjustment, or escalation to executive review. The 30-day review produces a written summary that becomes part of the deployment record. The next formal review is at 90 days unless an escalation trigger fires before then.
Escalation triggers must be unambiguous. Subjective escalation criteria produce delayed escalations because nobody wants to be the person who pulls the alarm. Define the trigger conditions in binary terms before launch: if the error rate exceeds X percent for more than Y minutes, escalate to the incident response lead. If any data exfiltration attempt is detected by the monitoring system, escalate to DRILL and CLAUSE simultaneously and activate the incident response playbook. If the 30-day adoption rate is below the failure threshold defined pre-launch, escalate to PRISM for behavioral intervention activation. If a regulatory inquiry is received at any point in the first thirty days, escalate to CLAUSE within two hours.
The escalation chain is not the point of escalation. The response is the point of escalation. A well-documented escalation trigger that reaches the right person at the right time enables a response that contains the problem. An escalation that reaches a shared inbox that nobody monitors produces a log entry and a future incident report explaining why the signal was missed.
