Velocity Dashboards

3 min read

A velocity dashboard is not a report — it is a management tool that surfaces the velocity levers in real time and highlights where intervention is needed. The dashboard answers three questions at a glance: what is our current velocity, which lever is underperforming, and which deals need acceleration attention right now?

  1. Velocity Trend Line A rolling 30-day velocity calculation displayed as a trend line. Is velocity increasing, stable, or declining? The trend tells you whether your pipeline is healthy directionally — before the individual metrics explain why.
  2. Four-Lever Breakdown Display each velocity lever separately with its current value and trend: opportunity count (up/down), average deal size (up/down), win rate (up/down), cycle time (up/down). Color-code: green for improving, red for declining. The lever that is red is the lever that needs attention.
  3. At-Risk Deal Queue A sorted list of deals exceeding their stage SLA, ranked by deal value. These are the deals dragging velocity down right now. The dashboard makes them visible to managers who can intervene — reassign resources, escalate blockers, or reclassify deals that are no longer viable.
