Rapid Concept Exploration
4 min read
The traditional prototyping workflow: sketch wireframes, iterate, refine, mock up in Figma, iterate again, present 2-3 options. Timeline: 3-5 days. The AI-assisted workflow: describe the interaction concept, generate 10 visual explorations in 20 minutes, filter to the 3 strongest, refine with specific feedback, present. Timeline: 3-5 hours.
The speed gain comes from the exploration phase. Traditionally, a designer invests 2-4 hours per concept variation because each one requires manual construction. With AI generation, each variation costs 2-3 minutes of prompt refinement and generation time. You can explore 10-20 variations in the time it took to build 2-3. The volume changes the quality of decisions — instead of choosing between "the two options I had time to build," you choose between "the three strongest options from twenty explorations."
The workflow: start with a text description of the interaction concept. Generate visual explorations using the brand style specification. Apply rapid ranking — which explorations communicate the concept most effectively? Refine the top 3 with specific prompt adjustments. Present with the style specification reference to demonstrate brand compliance.
