Alert Integration
3 min read
The dashboard is passive — someone must look at it. Alerts are active — they find the person who needs to know. The integration between the two is critical. The dashboard provides context. The alert provides urgency. When pipeline velocity drops below the threshold, the alert notifies the sales leader: "Pipeline velocity dropped 22% below the 4-week average. View the dashboard for details." The dashboard shows the breakdown: which segments, which reps, which deal stages. The alert brings the person to the dashboard. The dashboard provides the information needed to act. Neither works alone. Alerts without dashboards create alarm without understanding. Dashboards without alerts create understanding that arrives too late.
