Hiring and Technology Signals
3 min read
Hiring data and technology adoption signals are intent proxies — they do not directly indicate research behavior, but they strongly correlate with buying needs. A company hiring five sales development representatives is a company that needs better outbound tooling. A company adopting Salesforce is a company that will need integrations, training, and consulting. These signals predict future buying behavior before the account starts researching, giving you a timing advantage over competitors who only react to research-stage intent.
- Job Posting Analysis Monitor job postings at target accounts for roles, technologies, and initiatives that align with your solution. Ten open SDR roles signal an outbound scaling initiative. A "Head of Revenue Operations" posting signals process overhaul. Job descriptions contain budget information (salary ranges imply investment levels) and technology requirements (tool mentions indicate the existing stack).
- Technology Adoption Tracking Track technology installations, removals, and evaluations at target accounts using technographic data providers. A company that just installed a competitor's tool is unlikely to buy yours. A company that just removed a competitor's tool is actively looking for an alternative. A company evaluating tools in your category is in-market.
- Composite Signal Scoring Combine hiring signals, technology signals, and research intent into a composite intent score. An account that is hiring SDRs (hiring signal), evaluating CRM alternatives (technology signal), and consuming content about pipeline acceleration (research intent) has triple-confirmation intent. Score accounts on the number and diversity of intent signals, not just the volume.
The most powerful intent model combines all three signal types: first-party behavioral data (they are engaging with you), third-party research data (they are researching your category), and hiring/technology data (they are building the infrastructure that requires your solution). Triple-signal accounts are your highest-priority targets.
