Advocacy Pipeline Attribution
3 min read
The advocacy program must demonstrate its contribution to pipeline and revenue. Without attribution, the program is a cost without a measurable return — and costs without returns are the first to be cut in budget reviews. Attribution connects every referral, every reference call, and every case study deployment to the pipeline activity and revenue it influenced.
- Track Referral-Sourced Pipeline Every referral that enters the pipeline is tagged as advocacy-sourced. Track the pipeline value, conversion rate, and revenue generated from referral-sourced opportunities. Compare against non-referral pipeline to demonstrate the conversion advantage.
- Track Reference-Influenced Pipeline For deals that included a reference call, track the win rate compared to deals without references. The delta is the reference influence — the additional conversion lift produced by advocate involvement in the sales process.
- Calculate Program ROI Sum the revenue attributable to advocacy activities (referral-sourced plus reference-influenced) and compare against the cost of running the program (program manager time, advocate engagement costs, event costs). The ROI justifies the program's existence and secures ongoing investment.
