Emerging Platform Evaluation
3 min read
A new platform gains traction every eighteen months. Clubhouse. BeReal. Threads. Each generates excitement, early-adopter content rushes, and eventually a sorting into "platform that matters" or "platform that peaked." The evaluation framework: is your target audience actually there (not early adopters, but your specific buyer persona)? Does the platform's content format support B2B messaging? Is there organic reach available (new platforms typically offer generous organic reach to attract creators)? Can you measure business impact? If the answer to all four is yes, invest 10% of social effort in a ninety-day pilot. If any answer is no, monitor quarterly and re-evaluate. The cost of being early on the right platform is low. The cost of being late is high. The cost of investing heavily in the wrong platform is wasted resources.
