Designing the Community Value Proposition
3 min read
A community without a clear value proposition is a ghost town with a welcome page. Members join communities for one of three reasons: access to peers they cannot reach elsewhere, knowledge they cannot find elsewhere, or opportunities they cannot create alone. The value proposition must be specific. "A community for marketing professionals" attracts no one. "A community where B2B CMOs share pipeline strategies that actually work, with monthly live sessions and a private Slack for real-time questions" attracts exactly the right people. Specificity filters the audience. The right audience creates the value. The value attracts more of the right audience. The flywheel starts with the value proposition.
